How Visits Work in Ohio

You meet with a physician, not a questionnaire alone, and you keep the same care team through follow-up.

  • Video visits for adults anywhere in Ohio, from Columbus to Cleveland to Cincinnati
  • Your physician holds a Ohio medical license
  • Follow-up consultations, dose changes, and messaging with your care team through the Aayu Well app
  • Once your plan approves brand-name medicine, your prescription goes to your pharmacy. On a self-pay plan, medicine is shipped to your door

Ohio Insurance
and GLP-1 Coverage

Coverage for weight-loss medication depends on your specific plan. Here is what public sources say, and what we check for you.

State of Ohio employee plan

The State of Ohio benefits plan for state employees stopped covering GLP-1 medications for weight loss, such as Wegovy, Zepbound and Saxenda, effective July 1, 2025. Prior authorizations already approved were honored until they expired. (Ohio Department of Administrative Services, April 2025)

Ohio Medicaid

Ohio Medicaid rules list drugs for the treatment of obesity as not covered, so Ohio Medicaid does not pay for GLP-1 medications prescribed for weight loss alone. (Ohio Administrative Code 5160-9-03)

What we do

We verify your benefits before your first visit, file the prior authorization, and handle appeals. If your plan will not cover brand-name medication, you can choose a self-pay plan instead.

We work with most PPO and POS plans, many employer-sponsored plans, select HMO plans with referral, plans with obesity or weight management benefits, and select Medicare Advantage plans. Questions From
Ohio Patients

Have other questions? Contact us at support@aayuwell.com or call (312) 625-1889.

Do you see patients anywhere in Ohio?

Yes. Adults anywhere in Ohio can be seen by video visit, and our physician holds a Ohio medical license. In-person visits are available only at our clinic at 20330 N Deer Park Blvd Suite 130, Deer Park, IL 60010.

Will my Ohio insurance cover Wegovy or Zepbound for weight loss?

It depends on your plan. Many employer plans decide for themselves. The State of Ohio employee plan stopped covering these drugs for weight loss on July 1, 2025, and Ohio Medicaid does not cover drugs for the treatment of obesity. We check your specific benefits before your first visit.

Do you handle prior authorizations?

Yes. We submit it after your consultation and run it as a concierge service: the paperwork, the follow-up with your plan, and the appeal if your plan says no. How long it takes depends on your plan.

What if my insurance denies coverage?

Our team appeals. If it is still denied, we talk through every alternative together, including a self-pay plan.

What does treatment cost without insurance?

Self-pay plans start at $200 every 4 weeks, or $475 for 12 weeks. Compounded tirzepatide is $300 every 4 weeks.
