How Visits Work in Georgia

You meet with a physician, not a questionnaire alone, and you keep the same care team through follow-up.

  • Video visits for adults anywhere in Georgia, from Atlanta to Savannah to Augusta
  • Your physician holds a Georgia medical license
  • Follow-up consultations, dose changes, and messaging with your care team through the Aayu Well app

Georgia Insurance
and GLP-1 Coverage

Coverage for weight-loss medication depends on your specific plan. Here is what public sources say, and what we check for you.

State of Georgia health plan

From October 1, 2026, State of Georgia plan members with UnitedHealthcare no longer have to join the state's 9amHealth weight management program to have FDA-approved weight-loss medication covered, and they can choose their own prescriber. Prescriptions from outside that program need prior authorization. (UnitedHealthcare, October 2026)

Often an employer choice

In 2025, 19% of firms with 200 or more workers, and 43% of firms with 5,000 or more workers, covered GLP-1 drugs for weight loss in their largest health plan. Whether yours does may depend on what your employer chose. (KFF, 2025)

What we do

We verify your benefits before your first visit, file the prior authorization, and handle appeals. If your plan will not cover brand-name medication, you can choose a self-pay plan instead.

We work with most PPO and POS plans, many employer-sponsored plans, select HMO plans with referral, plans with obesity or weight management benefits, and select Medicare Advantage plans. See how insurance coverage works and pricing. We also see patients in Illinois (including Chicago), Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

Questions From
Georgia Patients

Have other questions? Contact us at support@aayuwell.com or call (312) 625-1889.

Do you see patients anywhere in Georgia?

Yes. Adults anywhere in Georgia can be seen by video visit, and our physician holds a Georgia medical license. In-person visits are available only at our clinic at 20330 N Deer Park Blvd Suite 130, Deer Park, IL 60010.

Will my Georgia insurance cover Wegovy or Zepbound for weight loss?

It depends on your plan. Many employer plans decide for themselves. For State of Georgia plan members with UnitedHealthcare, from October 1, 2026, a prescription from outside the state's 9amHealth program needs prior authorization to be covered. We check your specific benefits before your first visit.

Do you handle prior authorizations?

Yes. We submit it after your consultation and run it as a concierge service: the paperwork, the follow-up with your plan, and the appeal if your plan says no. How long it takes depends on your plan.

What if my insurance denies coverage?

Our team appeals. If it is still denied, we talk through every alternative together, including a self-pay plan.

What does treatment cost without insurance?

Self-pay plans start at $200 every 4 weeks, or $475 for 12 weeks. Compounded tirzepatide is $300 every 4 weeks.
