The Plans Chicago Patients
Ask Us About

Coverage for weight-loss medication depends on your specific plan. Here is what we see most often, and what we check for you.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois

BCBSIL describes GLP-1 coverage for weight management as optional for self-funded employer groups. For groups that elect it, it lists Wegovy, including Wegovy HD, and the Zepbound auto-injector; the Zepbound KwikPen sold direct to consumers is excluded. (BCBSIL, May 2026)

Employer plans

Many Chicago-area employers offer PPO, POS or select HMO plans. Whether GLP-1 medication for weight is covered is often your employer's choice, so two coworkers on the same carrier can have different answers. We check yours before your first visit.

Medicare Advantage

We work with select Medicare Advantage plans. Coverage for weight-loss medication varies by plan, so we verify your benefits and tell you what we find before you start.

We work with most PPO and POS plans, many employer-sponsored plans, select HMO plans with referral, plans with obesity or weight management benefits, and select Medicare Advantage plans. See how insurance coverage works, pricing, and GLP-1 care across Illinois.

Do I have to travel to Deer Park for visits?

No. Adults anywhere in Chicago and the suburbs can be seen by video visit. If you prefer to be seen in person, our clinic is at 20330 N Deer Park Blvd Suite 130, Deer Park, IL 60010, in the northwest suburbs.

Do you accept Medicare in Chicago?

We work with select Medicare Advantage plans. Coverage for weight-loss medication depends on your specific plan, so we check your benefits before your first visit.

Does Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois cover Wegovy or Zepbound for weight loss?

It depends on your plan. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois describes GLP-1 coverage for weight management as optional for self-funded employer groups, so many members are covered only if their employer elected it. We check your specific benefits before your first visit.

Where do I get lab work done?

When labs are needed, we send the order to a lab location near you, and the lab bills your insurance directly.

Do you handle prior authorizations?

Yes. Our team manages the entire prior authorization process with your insurance company, including all paperwork, follow-ups, and appeals if needed. Most authorizations are processed within 3-5 business days.

What does treatment cost without insurance?

Cash-pay plans are compounded semaglutide at $200 per 28 days and compounded tirzepatide at $300 per 28 days. Each includes physician evaluation, ongoing monitoring, dosage adjustments, and free shipping.
