THE INSURANCE PATHWAY

FDA information on compounded GLP-1s

The right treatment starts with a medical review

Your clinician considers your medical history, current medications, and risk factors. A program selection is a starting point; it does not guarantee a prescription.

Know your dose. Ask when you’re unsure.

Follow your prescribed dose and pharmacy instructions. Contact your care team about side effects or dose questions. When chat-based care isn’t sufficient, consultations with an obesity medicine specialist, MD, are included at no extra cost, without a visit limit.

Be informed about compounded medications

Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing. They are not the same as FDA-approved products.

What’s included in the standalone price?

Both durations include medication if prescribed, shipping, ongoing chat support, the AI-powered GLP-1 companion app, and unlimited consultations with an obesity medicine specialist, MD, at no extra cost when chat-based care isn’t sufficient. Semaglutide is $200 for 4 weeks or $475 for 12 weeks. Tirzepatide is $300 for 4 weeks or $675 for 12 weeks. The insurance program offers a separate schedule of regular provider and dietitian visits. Review final terms and any separately ordered services before paying.

Can I speak with an obesity medicine specialist, MD?

If chat-based care isn’t sufficient, your compounded medication program includes a consultation with an obesity medicine specialist, MD, at no extra cost. There is no limit on these consultations when they’re needed. This support is included in both the 4- and 12-week programs. For a medical emergency, call 911.

Which program is right for me?

Start with the online intake so your care team can learn about your goals and medical history. A clinician determines whether medication is appropriate and discusses your options. Choosing a program does not guarantee a prescription.

Can I use my insurance?

You can explore insurance-based care with scheduled provider and dietitian visits. Coverage for visits, nutrition services, labs, and medications can differ. Your plan determines eligibility, copays, deductibles, and prior authorization requirements. The standalone compounded medication prices are self-pay.

Are compounded medications FDA-approved?

No. FDA does not approve compounded medications or review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing. They may be appropriate for certain patients whose needs cannot be met by an FDA-approved drug, subject to applicable requirements. Your clinician will discuss options and risks.

What should I know about side effects?

GLP-1 medicines can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal discomfort. Serious risks can occur. Tell your clinician about pregnancy or pregnancy plans, a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2, and all medications you take. Review your treatment-specific safety information with your clinician. Seek urgent care for severe or persistent symptoms.

How do you support lasting results?

The insurance program pairs medical care with regular dietitian visits to help you build nutrition and lifestyle habits over time. Your team can adjust your plan as your needs change. Weight loss and maintenance vary from person to person; no specific amount of weight loss or ability to stop medication is guaranteed.
